Life's journey began for Ron L. Watkins when he was born on December 13, 1967 to the parentage of Mrs. Mable and Mr. Jimmy "Jim" Watkins in Greensboro, GA. Ron was affectionately known to many as "Ronel".
He attended the public school system of Oglethorpe County. He was a former employee of University of Georgia (UGA) and Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC).
Ron passed from time to eternity on Friday, January 8, 2021 at the Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital in his 53rd season of life.
Above all, Ron will be remembered for the love he had for his family and his true friendship. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy “Jim” Watkins. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
His memory will live in the hearts of his two children, Tamar Johnson and Brittany Wilson both of Athens, GA; his mother, Ms. Mable Watkins of Athens, GA; three grandchildren; three sisters, Valerie Brisco, Vickie Watkins both of Athens, GA and Doretha (Luther) Howard of Decatur, GA; four brothers, Jimmy Taylor of Oglethorpe, County, GA, Don L. Watkins, Lee Johnson and Riccus Watkins all of Athens, GA; one godsister, Deborah Williams of Athens, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Public Viewing for Mr. Ron Watkins will be held on Thursday January 14, 2021 2:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at Springfield Baptist Church, 550 Fourth Street, Athens, GA 30601. Graveside Service will be held on Friday January 15, 2021 at 1:00 PM. at St. Paul Methodist Church Cemetery, 660 Comer Road (Hwy 22), Lexington, GA 30648, Evangelist Sally Stevens, Eulogist.
Due to the COVID-19 crisis with the concern of health and safety of the family, friends, and community, SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL BE ENFORCED DURING ALL SERVICES. MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ATTENDANCE.
